Beta Build V.3


Since my art build, I’ve made several major updates based on playtesting feedback and technical progress. One of the biggest changes was adding a dialogue system so the characters could interact and chat back and forth when the player presses the space bar to advance. This system gave me a lot of trouble at first, but after some trial and error, I was able to get it working, though it’s still a bit buggy and something I plan to refine in the next sprint. 



I also introduced a bear character as the bartender in the back of the game, which added more personality to the scene. While my placeholder characters are still in progress, their final versions are beginning to match their intended personalities. Click on the sprite sheet below to see the gif.

 In terms of gameplay, I’m still working on implementing goals since the attack animations are taking longer than expected, but I’ve recently learned how to animate sprite sheets. It was challenging at first but became much easier once I figured it out. 

Moving forward, my main focus is finalizing the animations and polishing the sound design. Once I complete one element, the rest tends to come together much faster, so I feel confident about my next steps.
